Scout Show Booth was a Hit!

Crew 904 had a booth in Circle Ten's annual Scout Show for the first time.  The committee selected "Crew 904: the Cast Iron Crew" as the theme.  We made aebleskivers for nearly five and a half hours, serving close to 600 people.  Never heard of aebleskivers?  Not many at the Scout Show had either!

Aebleskivers are a Danish puff pancake.  They are cooked in a cast iron aebleskiver pan (what else?) which has seven spherical wells.   When the aebleskiver is flipped, the batter flows from the partially cooked half back into the well so the finished aebleskiver is shaped like a ball.  We offered powdered sugar, strawberry jam, and apple butter as possible toppings.  They were gone as fast as we could make them!

We also had a table displaying additional pieces of cast iron cookware.  We had handouts available containing not only the aebleskiver recipe, but also several other of our favorite recipes we fix using cast iron.

The crew not only received the standard Participation Ribbon, but also a Blue Ribbon,  a Health and Safety Inspection Ribbon, and a Judge's Honor Ribbon.  We had a great time, and, hopefully, a lot more people will be making aebleskivers in the future.
